Summary: The apocalypse. It's over, it's done, the devil is gone. And Sam, Sam is alive. He's alive and he's with Dean and he's nowhere close to okay. Lucifer lives in his dreams, in his mind, behind his eyes, and he doesn't know how to break free. He doesn't know if he can.

Note: This is my own version of season 6, set immediately after the ending of “Swan Song”, meaning the year of separation never happened. It’s also my first big bang, and the longest standalone story I’ve ever written, and it's as dark and twisted as anything that comes from my mind. A huge thanks goes out to everyone who talked with me about this along the way, especially my lovely beta gestaltrose. Also thanks to the band Meg & Dia, as their song "Fighting for Nothing" was largely my inspiration for this fic. Enjoy, and I would love feedback!
