Illyria (AtS)
Let me channel Knox for a second and say that I loved Fred, I really did. But Illyria is something else entirely. Displaced goddess, who, brought into the world again without her consent, manages to be both broken and confused and incredibly powerful at once. I love her first scenes, introduced to Wesley, this torn-apart human, and realizing that the world she knew is gone; she doesn't back down. She gives us the "I have work to do" line and proceeds to be entirely badass with chilling knowledge of humans despite being unfamiliar with them. Not to mention the fact that the season gets about ten times more interesting after her arrival. Shells, Timebomb, Power Play, Not Fade Away. Come on now. Some of the best episodes of the entire series are part of her storyline. Also, Amy Acker is completely and utterly fabulous the end.
